ELOY CITY COUNCIL ADOPTS NEW BUILDING CODES AND PERMIT FEES
On December 14, 2020, the Eloy City Council adopted the 2018 International Building Codes and the 2017 National Electric Code with local amendments and an update to the City’s Building Permit Fees.
The new codes and fees will go into effect thirty (30) days after adoption on January 13, 2021. However, the City Council has provided a grace period until April 6, 2021. Any legitimate application submitted for permit before April 6, 2021, will have the option of building under either the current 2012 codes or the newly adopted 2018 codes. On or after April 6, 2021, all submitted applications will be required to comply with the 2018 codes.
If an applicant applies for a permit before April 6, 2021, they will have one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days, per code, to pay for and pick up that permit. If the application expires, after the April 6th date, the new codes and fees will be applied to any building permit application.
Additionally, after April 6th, if any substantial changes or revisions are made to the initial permit application, then that application shall be null and void and a new application will need to be submitted.
